    Each year The Co-operative gives young people aged 19 and under the chance to have their short films shown on the big screen at the prestigious The Co-operative Film Festival, formerly known as Co-operative Young Film-Makers.

Young Co-ops on Safari

On Friday 11 December students from Sutherland School in Shropshire and St Benet Biscop school in Northumberland set of on the journey of a lifetime - to southern Africa.

They are part of a group from the Co-operative College who will be attending, and helping to run, a conference for youth and student co-operatives in the mountain kingdom of Lesotho, a small, very poor country, surround by South Africa. There they will meet 300 other young people who are all involved in setting up and running their own co-operatives, and share experiences.

Day 1 - Saturday 12 December

After an overnight flight we arrived in Johannesburg this morning...

Day 2 - Sunday 13 December

Sunday 13 December 2009 brought hot weather, interesting facts and a long journey.

Day 3 - Monday 14 December

While we were waiting for the bus to take us to the convention centre this morning the King of Lesotho arrived to have breakfast at our hotel. We were able to give him a copy of the calendar which our schools produced to raise funds for the youth and student co-operatives in Lesotho.

Today was the day when all the student co-operatives made their presentations about their new products for their business.
