Update from Roman Fields Provision

Roman Fields Provision classroom

Roman Fields Provision in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, are now moving ahead fast with their Young Co-operative’s 'Greenfingers' enterprise.

Garden design plans are being implemented and a biodiversity/pollinators garden is being created which will work with 'Plan Bee': it is planned that bees will be kept on site and produce honey. Roman Fields Provision has its own walled garden with large-scale strawberry production, an orchard (hence the need for the bees) and now a biodiversity/pollinators garden. The garden, along with the classroom, will also showcase the garden maintenance/landscape co-operative business which will allow Roman Fields to run Co-operative Apprenticeships in Work-based Horticulture through City & Guilds 0065. This work is crucial as Roman Fields tries to support the Ambitious about Autism - Finished at School agenda (www.ambitiousaboutautism.org.uk/page/get_involved/finished_school/about.cfm).

Roman Fields also hope to make a short film with learners promoting the co-operative, probably in the spring, when there is more plant growth to be seen. In the meantime photos are available to view at www.sustainablehorticulture.co.uk/a-community-interest-company.
