Young Co-operative shows off new portable shop

The portable Fairtrade shop at Forest Gate Community School

The Young Co-operative at Forest Gate Community School in Newham, East London, is using a new portable Fairtrade shop to serve both the school and wider community.

The Young Co-operative runs the shop at break times and is taking the shop (which is built onto an industrial trolley) to Forest Gate's newly opened community market every Saturday in April to sell Fairtrade and ethical products.

The Young Co-operators showed off their Portable shop during a recent visit from the Co-operative-sponsored ice cream van, which educated students on Fairtrade issues at the same time as giving away over 400 Fairtrade ice creams, plus an enormous amount of Fairtrade chocolate, biscuits and fruit. Two of the school's feeder primary schools also took part in the event and Stephanie Mizon, who arranged the visit, was looked after by members of the Young Co-operative.
