Big Swap

fairtrade_fortnight

Throughout Fairtrade Fortnight (February 22-March 7), the Fairtrade Foundation’s Big Swap campaign will be encouraging shoppers across the country to exchange their normal purchases for Fairtrade goods. From tea, to chocolate, clothes to beauty products and flowers to footballs, the campaign is aiming for a total of 1 million and one swaps.

One school which will be joining in is Fulston Manor in Sittingbourne, Kent, which has asked all parents to swap purchases such as grocery items and clothes for Fairtrade products. The results will be collated on the website www.fairtrade.org.uk/thebigswap.

Fulston Manor’s Fairtrade Young Co-operatives group will also be visiting Age Concern on 24 February to give a short presentation on Fairtrade, as well as serving Fairtrade tea, coffee and biscuits.

The school will also be paid a visit by the Fairtrade Co-op ice cream van on 3 March, which will serve staff and students samples of Fairtrade ice cream.
